Campi, IPOPHL Team Up with Online Platforms to Curb Fake Auto Parts

Asia Manufacturing Review Team | Tuesday, 23 December 2025

  • Campi signs MOU to curb counterfeit automotive parts online.
  • Partnership boosts vehicle safety and consumer protection nationwide.
  • Ipophl-backed system enables faster takedown of fake listings.

The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (Campi) reaffirmed its dedication to consumer protection and road safety by officially signing an e-commerce memorandum of understanding (MOU) with prominent online shopping platforms, in an event attended by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (Ipophl).

The MOU seeks to address the issue of counterfeit automotive parts sales and enhance vehicle safety standards nationwide. The signing event involved Campi President Rommel Gutierrez, Ipophl Acting Director General Nathaniel Arevalo, and delegates from prominent e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.

Gutierrez remarked that the MOU signing occurs at a crucial time as Campi celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, showcasing three decades of service to the motoring community in the Philippines. “This collaboration could not have come at a more fitting time,” he said. “As we mark three decades of service to the motoring public, Campi continues to strengthen its mission to raise awareness and fight against counterfeit products that compromise the safety of Filipino consumers.”

He added that the MOU directly supports Campi’s Road and Vehicle Safety Pillar, which focuses on ensuring the availability of genuine and high-quality automotive components in the market.

Campi emphasized that road safety and vehicle safety are closely linked. While the organization continues to advocate for safer roads through policy engagement and public education, it also recognizes the urgent need to address the proliferation of counterfeit automotive parts, posing serious risks when installed in vehicles.

First implemented in 2021, the e-commerce MOU seeks to establish a Code of Practice or Conduct designed to reduce the sale of counterfeit and pirated products online. Facilitated by Ipophl, the agreement enhances collaboration between brand owners and e-commerce platforms, including more streamlined and effective notice and takedown (NTD) procedures to ensure the swift removal of infringing listings.
