Cambodia and Russia are seeking to further strengthen their longstanding bilateral relationship, with trade and economic cooperation emerging as key areas of focus. Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen held discussions with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko during his visit to Cambodia.
The meeting takes place as Cambodia and Russia mark the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year. Hun Sen welcomes Rudenko’s visit, describing it as an important contribution to the continued development of relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Rudenko highlights efforts by the Russian government to expand bilateral trade. Hun Sen welcomes the discussions and notes that stronger economic cooperation can serve as an additional pillar of the Cambodia-Russia partnership. The talks also follow Rudenko’s discussions with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on trade and economic cooperation.
The two countries maintain a long history of cooperation across political, economic and human-resource development areas. Hun Sen recalls his longstanding engagement with successive Russian leaders, including during his tenure as Cambodia’s foreign minister and prime minister. He also expresses appreciation for Russia’s continued support, particularly in human-resource development and training.
The discussions also carry a diplomatic dimension. Rudenko conveys that Russian leaders, including President Vladimir Putin, are looking forward to Hun Sen’s upcoming visit to Russia. Hun Sen says he is currently considering possible dates for the visit. Cambodia also indicates its readiness to welcome a planned visit by the leader of Russia’s United Russia Party, further reflecting the continued political engagement between the two countries.
