Bank Asia and Bangladesh Bank have launched a month-long entrepreneurship programme under SICIP, funded by ADB. The initiative will train entrepreneurs in business management, financial planning, market management and expansion strategies.

Bank Asia PLC and Bangladesh Bank have launched a month-long Entrepreneurship Development Programme to strengthen the business and management capabilities of entrepreneurs in Bangladesh. The programme is being conducted under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Development (SICIP) project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The programme was inaugurated on September 2, 2026, at the Bank Asia Institute for Training and Development (BAITD) in Lalmatia, Dhaka. Md Masum Billah, Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank, inaugurated the initiative. Mohammad Wasim, Joint Director of Bangladesh Bank, and Mohammad Saifuddowla, Head of MSME at Bank Asia, attended the event as special guests, while Akhteruddin Mahmood, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Human Resources Officer of Bank Asia, presided over the programme.

The initiative is being implemented under the SICIP project, which is financed by the ADB and implemented by the Finance Division of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Finance. Bangladesh Bank’s SME & Special Programmes Department is providing overall supervision for the programme.

The month-long training is designed to provide entrepreneurs with practical knowledge across key areas of business operations and growth. The curriculum includes business management, financial planning, market management and strategies for business expansion. By strengthening these capabilities, the programme aims to help participants manage their enterprises more effectively and identify opportunities for sustainable growth.

The programme also has a wider economic objective. By improving the capabilities of entrepreneurs, the initiative seeks to support the expansion of businesses and encourage the creation of new employment opportunities. This links entrepreneurship development with broader efforts to strengthen Bangladesh’s private sector and promote inclusive economic growth.

The latest programme also builds on Bank Asia and Bangladesh Bank’s earlier initiatives to support small and medium-sized enterprises. Bank Asia conducted a similar month-long entrepreneurship programme for SME entrepreneurs in Sylhet in January 2026, focusing on essential business skills and management capabilities.

Through the current initiative, the institutions are seeking to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem by combining structured training with institutional support. The programme reflects the growing emphasis on developing managerial and financial capabilities among entrepreneurs as Bangladesh seeks to improve business competitiveness, expand employment and support sustainable economic activity.
