Bangladesh and Malaysia signed five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and exchanged three notes across various sectors to enhance collaboration between the two nations. Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim observed the signing of the MoUs and the exchange of notes in Malaysia's administrative capital, Putrajaya.
The initial note addressed collaboration in the realm of higher education. Malaysian Foreign Minister Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan and Bangladesh's Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain shared notes representing their respective parties. The second note concerned training for diplomats.
The initial MoU regarding defence cooperation was signed between the government of Malaysia and the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The MoU was signed by Malaysian Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin and Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain.
The second MoU between the Malaysian government and the Bangladeshi government pertains to collaboration in the areas of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) supply, LNG infrastructure, petroleum products, and related infrastructure. The MoU was signed by Malaysian Acting Economic Minister Amir Hamzah bin Azizan alongside Bangladesh’s Energy Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan.
The third note focuses on collaboration within the halal ecosystem. Senator Dr Zulkifli bin Hasan, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia, and Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud bin Harun, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), exchanged the note.

The third MoU establishes collaboration between the Institute of Strategic and International Studies Malaysia and the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies. Datuk Professor Dr Mohd Faiz Abdullah, Chairman of the Institute of Strategic & International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia, and Md Shameem Ahsan, Bangladesh High Commissioner in Malaysia, signed the MoU.
The fourth Memorandum of Understanding is regarding cooperation between MIMOS Services Sdn Bhd and the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BMCCI). MIMOS Services Sdn Bhd (MSSB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohamad Fauzi Yahaya and Shabbir Ahmed Khan from BMCCI signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The fifth MoU has been signed by the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). NCCIM chairman N Gobalakrishnan and FBCCI official Md. Hafizur Rahman agreed to the MoU.
