The two sides highlighted the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties and expanding mutual support within international organisations and multilateral platforms. Particular attention was given to cooperation through the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
During the meeting, Sokhonn expressed appreciation to Azerbaijan for hosting the upcoming CICA Summit and conveyed his wishes for the successful organisation of the event. Azerbaijan is scheduled to host the summit, providing another platform for engagement among participating states on regional cooperation and confidence-building measures.
The foreign ministers also discussed cooperation in demining, an area in which both countries have an interest in exchanging experience and developing practical cooperation. The issue was included among the areas discussed as the two sides reviewed opportunities to broaden their bilateral engagement.
The meeting also covered regional and international developments. Bayramov and Sokhonn exchanged views on current issues and emphasised the importance of maintaining regular coordination and dialogue on matters of mutual interest.
The discussions form part of Azerbaijan and Cambodia’s wider efforts to maintain diplomatic engagement and develop cooperation through bilateral and multilateral channels. Their participation in platforms such as NAM and CICA provides avenues for coordination on issues involving developing countries, regional stability and international cooperation.
