Azerbaijan, Australia Development Bank Discuss Cooperation Ties

Azerbaijan and the Asian Development Bank have held discussions to further strengthen their long-standing cooperation, focusing on expanding joint projects and deepening financial and technical collaboration.

The talks took place during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Finance Minister Sahil Babayev and a delegation led by ADB’s Central and West Asia Department Director General Leah Gutierrez.

The two parties assessed existing projects together with upcoming development initiatives which would be supported by the bank, thereby demonstrating how ongoing collaboration serves as the foundation for successful growth initiatives.

Azerbaijan emphasized that its partnership with the ADB has played a significant role in supporting the country’s socio-economic progress. The bank has provided funding of about $5.5 billion for 145 projects which include essential areas like infrastructure and energy and public services.

The active programs of the organization have generated economic development while they improved transportation links and raised the quality of life for people.

The partnership between the two organizations develops through the implementation of a Country Partnership Strategy which will be active until 2029 and supports Azerbaijan's national development goals.

The parties established their main areas of future cooperation through economic diversification, green and sustainable development, and inclusive growth.

The discussions focused on three main topics which included raising private sector involvement and enhancing financial access and strengthening governance and fiscal management systems.

The two parties identified their partnership for transport and logistics and water infrastructure and renewable energy as essential elements for advancing their long-term development and regional integration goals.

The meeting demonstrated that all participants remained dedicated to establishing new partnerships while using their financial and technical skills to assist Azerbaijan in achieving its development objectives.

The Azerbaijan-ADB partnership will drive sustainable economic growth and resilience because both partners will continue their investments in essential sectors and necessary reforms.
