- EDA Garage launched to aid local chipmakers
- Affordable access to chip design tools via pay-per-use
- Partners offer training and technical support
The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (ASTAR), in partnership with Enterprise Singapore and leading Electronic Design Automation (EDA) companies Cadence, Keysight and Synopsys, has launched an EDA Garage programme to assist local semiconductor companies.
ASTAR announced the EDA Garage during its first “Innovate Together” event. The EDA Garage makes high quality chip design tools more approachable for startup and small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore.
EDA tools are critical in the design, simulation, and verification of the semiconductor chips before they are fabricated. EDA Garage's flexible pay-per-use licensing model enables companies to access these expensive EDA tools in a non-prohibitive way, instead of needing to invest heavily up front.

Together with access to the tools, Cadence, Keysight, and Synopsys will provide training and technical support to users of the software in order to provide maximum value.
The objective of the EDA Garage programme is to lower barriers for new chipmakers and promote innovative solutions to Singapore's growing semiconductor landscape. CM Engineering Labs Singapore is the first company to enroll in the programme.
