Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian have discussed strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation during a meeting in Turkmenistan on today. The talks took place on the sidelines of a Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit and a Caspian Sea environmental summit.
According to the Armenian prime minister’s office, both leaders emphasised the importance of maintaining intensive high-level contacts, noting that regular engagement contributes to the continued development and expansion of relations between Yerevan and Tehran. The meeting also provided an opportunity to review the countries’ existing cooperation agenda and identify areas for further engagement.

Pashinyan highlighted the broad scope of bilateral cooperation and noted that Iranian companies are participating in strategic projects being implemented in Armenia. The involvement of Iranian businesses reflects the economic and infrastructure links between the neighbouring countries, which have continued to explore opportunities for closer trade cooperation, energy and regional connectivity.
Both leaders expressed confidence that Armenia-Iran relations would reach a new level in the near future. They also stressed the importance of upcoming reciprocal high-level visits as a means of sustaining political dialogue and advancing shared priorities. The two sides exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, although no new agreements or specific project commitments were announced in the meeting report.
The meeting follows discussions between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran on October 5. Those talks focused on energy cooperation, transport infrastructure and regional connectivity. Officials discussed plans for a second bridge along the Armenia-Iran border, completion of a third electricity transmission line and measures to facilitate freight transportation between the countries.
The foreign ministers also exchanged views on regional connectivity initiatives, including Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace project and the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP). The discussions highlighted the importance of transport links and infrastructure development in improving regional economic connections.
