  • WeRide Robotaxi passenger services officially launch in Dubai through the Uber app.
  • Pilot runs with onboard experts now, ahead of full driverless service in early 2026.
  • Partnership supports Dubai’s goal of 25% autonomous journeys by 2030.

WeRide and Uber Technologies, in collaboration with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), announced the official launch of Robotaxi passenger services in Dubai via the Uber app. WeRide Robotaxis will be accessible on the Uber app in areas of Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah, which are among Dubai’s top tourist destinations near public beaches, and available to all passengers.

Users can now reserve and be paired with a WeRide Robotaxi via the ‘Autonomous’ feature on the Uber app. Tawasul will serve as the primary fleet operator for WeRide vehicles on the Uber platform, offering fleet management services.

The rollout comes after a joint pilot initiative and evaluations since the partnership announcement in April, facilitating a secure and seamless shift to autonomous transportation. This trial service is presently functioning with a vehicle expert on-board to guarantee a secure and dependable experience, paving the way for a completely driverless commercial service in early 2026.

We are pleased to partner with forward-thinking regulators like RTA, who share a similarly bold commitment to advancing autonomous mobility, and with Uber, whose global platform will help accelerate the adoption of driverless transportation.”

Sarfraz Maredia, Global Head of Autonomous at Uber said, "As the world’s largest hybrid network of human drivers and AVs, Uber is building the future of transportation, and we are thrilled by the pace of autonomous adoption in the UAE and the Middle East. This launch in Dubai is a testament to our ongoing commitment to the UAE's vision for the future of mobility, and contributes directly to Dubai’s goal of achieving 25% autonomous journeys by 2030."
