Vietnam and Singapore have agreed to establish more Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) throughout the country, expanding the footprint from traditional manufacturing zones to include smart urban development and digital commerce spaces, and technology parks.
The agreement was made during a conversation between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in a meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Wednesday, which took place during the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum in Tianjin, China, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Prime Minister Chinh also stated that Vietnamese ministries are drafting an action program from 2025 to 2030 to implement the comprehensive strategic partnership established in March this year.
He suggested creating new VSIPs that extend past typical industrial areas, integrating intelligent urban infrastructure and digital commerce.
The PM additionally called for enhanced collaboration in important domains such as the digital economy, sustainable development, and the establishment of international financial centers in Vietnam.
Chinh highlighted the necessity of developing high-quality human resources and urged Singapore to offer assistance via both short-term and long-term initiatives.
In reply, PM Wong supported the suggestions and accepted the prompt initiation of the action plan for the comprehensive strategic partnership. He advocated for the enhancement of advanced VSIPs that incorporate high-tech parks, residential zones, and commercial spaces.
