Uzbekistan, Tajikistan launch 10M cable plant in Fergana
  • $10M cable factory in Fergana to open by December 2025
  • Joint venture to produce copper and aluminum wires
  • Project to create 100 jobs and boost regional exports to CIS

An emerging industrial partnership between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan is developing in the Fergana region, where a $10 million cable production facility is being constructed. Located in the Dangara district, the facility is expected to be operational by December 2025, according to The Caspian Post through Tajik media.

The facility, called Osiyo Kabellari, is a collaboration between Tajik businessperson Shukhradzhan Ashurmatov and Uzbek entrepreneur Fotima Imamova. Located on a 1-hectare plot, the factory will manufacture aluminum and copper wire, representing an important milestone in cross-border private sector collaboration.

Funded by direct foreign investment, the facility will be able to produce up to 15,000 tons of copper wire and 1,700 tons of aluminum wire each year. According to recent estimates, the total production of the factory is expected to be valued at around $21 million annually.

The initiative is anticipated to create approximately 100 permanent positions, enhancing the local economy and aiding the region's wider industrial growth plan. Some of the output will be sent to Kyrgyzstan and other CIS markets, with initial export estimates expected to reach $1 million.

On July 18, Khayrullo Bozorov, the Fergana regional governor, convened with the investors of the project to assess progress and talk about speeding up construction activities. He also discussed essential infrastructure requirements, such as water, electricity, and gas supply, to guarantee a seamless process to completion.

Tajik investors have engaged in cross-border manufacturing initiatives, yet the Osiyo Kabellari project is seen as a fundamental element in the long-term plan to improve economic integration and regional collaboration between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
