UAE-Korea Forum Strengthens Economic and Investment Ties

The United Arab Emirates and Korea reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing economic and investment collaboration at the UAE-Korea Advanced Manufacturing and Life Sciences Investment Forum, conducted on Tuesday in Seoul.

Organized by the UAE Ministry of Investment in partnership with the UAE Embassy in Seoul, the event assembled top officials and industry leaders from both nations to discuss new opportunities for trade, technology transfer, and foreign direct investment (FDI).

Mohammad Al Hawi, undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Investment, stated that the roadshow and forum were focused on creating new opportunities for bilateral investment. “It’s a pleasure to welcome you to the Invest UAE Roadshow in Korea, a platform dedicated to strengthening investment partnership and unlocking new avenues of FDI between our two nations,” he said.

Al Hawi mentioned that the UAE and Korea have a relationship spanning more than 45 years, “built on trust, innovation and shared ambition.” He mentioned that the UAE provides a vibrant investment landscape featuring top-grade infrastructure, modern regulations, and access to over 3.5 billion customers across three continents. “In 2023, our non-oil trade reached $5.3 billion, and the UAE pledged $30 billion in strategic investments into Korea,” he said, highlighting increasing collaboration in fields such as the Barakah nuclear facility, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and renewable energy.

UAE Ambassador to Korea Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi, who spoke at the event, characterized it as a demonstration of “the growing strength of the strategic and economic partnership”between the two countries

“Our bilateral ties have evolved into a dynamic, multifaceted relationship underscored by increasing trade, expanding investment flows and strong cooperation in critical sectors such as energy, health care, innovation and advanced manufacturing,” he said.

The forum ended with a networking session in which delegates from the public and private sectors explored possible collaborative projects and investment opportunities. Al Nuaimi stated that the event acts as “a gateway for new and fruitful success” in bilateral investments. “Let us continue to strengthen our economic partnership, working together to foster innovation in vital fields of life sciences and advanced manufacturing,” he said.
