Tajikistan and the UAE aim to further step up the level of cooperation in several key fields, including the energy sector and tourism, in the long run.
In this regard, the recent trend that emerged is about the new economic relationship between the two countries, which was developed through talks between Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade in Tajikistan, and Abdullah bin Tawq Al Marri, the UAE’s Minister of Economy and Tourism, on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai, particularly in the areas that are key to the development of the economy in the long term.
Both officials stressed the importance of developing mutually beneficial cooperation and expressed their countries' interest in continuing positive dialogue, which could result in the creation of joint ventures.

First, a new area in green and renewable energy was identified as a priority, corresponding to the international trend of developing a “green development” strategy and meeting Tajikistan’s aspirations in developing the hydropower and renewable energy resources that the republic possesses in abundance. Currently, Tajikistan uses the majority of “green energy,” hydropower, for electrical energy production.
Another major subject that was under consideration is tourism and aviation, which is very essential in boosting the relationship between Tajikistan and the UAE in terms of trade ties and economic cooperation.
Moreover, the discussions were meant to addresses the avenues that could be put in place to facilitate the export of Tajik agriculture and industrial products to the UAE, which will create new trade opportunities.
Overall, the talks were a major step towards strengthening the economic, energy, and tourism cooperation between Tajikistan and the UAE, in light of the aspirations of the two states to develop their economies and benefit from the opportunities offered by sustainable development in the world.
