  • Suzlon joins RE100, pledges 100% renewable energy for 15 plants by 2030.
  • Targets Net Zero across Scope 1–3 by 2040, carbon neutrality for Scope 1–2 by 2035.
  • Rotor Blade Unit achieved 92.87% carbon neutrality, reducing energy and emission intensity significantly.

Suzlon Group is the first Indian energy firm to join the Climate Group and CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project)-led RE100 Initiative, announcing its intention to switch all 15 of its production plants to run 100% on renewable energy by 2030.

The company's commitment is a component of a larger decarbonization plan that aims to achieve Net Zero across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2040 and carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035. Direct operational emissions are covered by scope 1, indirect emissions from electricity purchases are covered by scope 2, and the whole value chain is covered by scope 3.

“Joining RE100 is a powerful affirmation of our belief that true leadership in renewable energy begins at home — in how we run our own operations. We are not just delivering clean power to the world; we are ensuring that every megawatt we produce is backed by a manufacturing process powered entirely by renewables. This commitment is both a responsibility to the planet and a promise to future generations—to lead by example, to innovate without compromise, and to embed sustainability into the DNA of everything we do,” said JP Chalasani, CEO, Suzlon Group.

Suzlon has made significant strides in achieving its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives in the last 12 months. The company's Rotor Blade Unit in Dhule, which runs entirely on renewable energy, achieved 92.87% carbon neutrality at the plant level. Additionally, it reduced the energy intensity by 17.19% in comparison to FY 2023–2024 and the emission intensity of Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 88.51%. The use of renewable energy rose by 80.7% in the same time frame.

Additionally, Suzlon has been acknowledged as the first Indian Gold Member of the RE100 project, which unites more than 400 businesses globally dedicated to utilizing only renewable energy.
