- Singapore and Japan sign cooperation framework to strengthen bilateral collaboration in energy sector development.
- Agreement focuses on hydrogen, ammonia, carbon capture technologies, renewable energy, and resilient regional power grids.
- Partnership aims to accelerate decarbonisation, enhance energy security, and support transition toward sustainable low-carbon economies.
The new cooperation framework between Singapore and Japan will enable both countries to work together on energy projects and their transition to clean energy systems.
The Energy, Sustainability and Climate Change Cooperation Framework were signed by Singapore's Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science and Technology Tan See Leng and Japan's Minister of Economy Trade and Industry Ryosei Akazawa.
The framework shows how both nations work together to combat climate change while their quest for net-zero emissions target completion continues through upcoming years.
The two nations will increase their energy-related partnerships according to the new framework which they established. The agreement includes three main areas of collaboration which involve cross-border electricity imports and the development of low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia and carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies.
The partnership will also include civil nuclear power generation and liquefied natural gas (LNG) and offshore wind energy and modern power grid systems. The partnership will help both countries achieve sustainable energy systems through the development of these specific sectors.
