  • DHL and Mida signed an MoU to strengthen their logistics partnership.

DHL and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday to strengthen their collaboration.

Mida announced in a joint statement on Thursday that through the renewed partnership, all four DHL business units functioning in Malaysia - DHL Express, DHL Supply Chain, DHL Global Forwarding, and DHL eCommerce - will collaborate closely with Mida to enhance the logistics and supply chain landscape, bolstering Malaysia’s status as a top destination for foreign investments.

DHL and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MU) on Wednesday to continue to strengthen their long-standing relationship.

Mida said in a statement on Thursday that with the renewal of this relationship, both agencies will work closely in elevating the logistics and supply chain ecosystem in Malaysia, to create benefits for all four DHL business units operating in Malaysia - DHL Express, DHL Supply Chain, DHL Global Forwarding, and DHL eCommerce - all in all positioning Malaysia as a leading destination for foreign direct investments.

Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of Mida, stated that the renewed collaboration with DHL signifies a strategic partnership that will accelerate Malaysia's progress in becoming the leading smart logistics hub in the region.

“Malaysia's logistics sector has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as a powerhouse of innovation and technological advancement.

“We are witnessing developments in digital technology and smart automation, from AI-powered route optimisation and real-time tracking to advanced warehouse robotics and autonomous delivery systems,” he said.

Julian Neo, managing director of DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei, said with the shift towards multi-shoring and multi-sourcing gaining significance strategically, Malaysia is well positioned to capitalize on this trend due to its geographical connectivity and supportive business ecosystem.

DHL reported that it is also committed to improving Malaysia's standing among multinational corporations looking to expand their manufacturing and sourcing.

“With its strong presence in Malaysia and comprehensive end-to-end logistics and supply chain capabilities, DHL is well equipped to support foreign investors in enhancing supply chain resilience by leveraging Malaysia’s strategic location,” it added.
