Micron to Start Production at Gujarat Plant by Feb End

Micron Technology, a leading global semiconductor manufacturer, is preparing to begin production at its new Gujarat facility by the end of February 2026, according to remarks made by S. Krishnan, Managing Director of Micron India, at the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

The announcement shows that Micron wants to expand its operations in India which will help India become an important center for semiconductor production and high-tech research.

The Gujarat facility, situated in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), marks an important achievement for India's development of semiconductor production facilities.

The plant will manufacture advanced memory and storage products which serve essential functions in various technology fields that include artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers and consumer electronics. Micron's investment supports India's semiconductor strategy which seeks to decrease imported chip dependency while developing domestic supply chains.

Krishnan demonstrated at the India AI Impact Summit how the facility would generate skilled professions and promote technological development within the community.

The production lines will start their operations by manufacturing DRAM and NAND memory products which meet the worldwide demand driven by expanding AI and data-heavy systems.
