Kyrgyzstan is intensifying scientific and technological cooperation with member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) as part of broader efforts to strengthen regional innovation, research partnerships, and knowledge exchange. The initiative is highlighted during the 10th meeting of heads of science and technology ministries from SCO member countries held in Bishkek.
The conference brings together representatives from Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, along with officials from the SCO Secretariat. Discussions focus on expanding collaboration in science, technology, and innovation while promoting joint research initiatives and scientific partnerships across the region.
According to Kyrgyz officials, the meeting serves as an important international platform for addressing key challenges related to scientific development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and technological modernization. Participants also examine opportunities for improving regional connectivity and innovation-driven economic growth through coordinated research programmes and institutional cooperation.

During the forum, participants discuss proposals for deeper institutional engagement, including the creation of permanent coordination mechanisms among research centers and think tanks within SCO member states. Kyrgyzstan further positions itself as a growing regional hub for scientific dialogue and multilateral cooperation in Central Asia.
