Kia, BMW Korea, and Hyundai Motor will voluntarily recall more than 16,000 cars in South Korea because of production defects, the transport ministry announced on Wednesday. As reported by the Yonhap news agency, South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that 16,577 units from 14 models will face recalls.
Kia is recalling 12,949 units from two models, including the Seltos, because of a flaw in the high-pressure fuel pipe that could result in fuel leaks and elevate the fire hazard.
BMW is set to recall 2,213 units across 11 models, including the 520i, due to incorrectly installed parts in the 48V starter-generator potentially leading to battery charging issues.
Hyundai will implement corrective actions on 1,390 units of its Elec City hydrogen fuel cell buses because of the flawed design of the hydrogen discharge port cap.

Last month, Volvo Car Korea, Mercedes-Benz Korea, Man Truck & Bus Korea, along with two other foreign car manufacturers, voluntarily recalled more than 117,000 vehicles because of production flaws. The five firms, which include Jaguar Land Rover Korea and Nissan Korea, have recalled a total of 117,925 vehicles spanning 49 models sold in South Korea.
Volvo recalled 95,573 units from eight models, including the XC60, because of a software flaw in the event data recorder that could lead to improper recording of driving information.
Mercedes-Benz recalled 17,285 units across nine models, including the S580 4MATIC, because of inadequate durability in the brake hoses. Man Truck & Bus will be recalling 1,515 units spanning 24 models because of an issue in the central vehicle control system.
Jaguar Land Rover implemented corrective actions on 1,401 units of four models, including the New Range Rover P530 LWB, because of potential moisture ingress in the rear camera that could hinder driving. Nissan has recalled 591 units of the Pathfinder because of a faulty hood component that may permit the hood to open during operation.
