  • Kazakhstan strengthens environmental cooperation with Central Asian countries to address shared ecological and climate challenges collectively.
  • Focus includes biodiversity conservation, water resources management, land degradation, and climate risk mitigation across transboundary ecosystems.
  • Government promotes nature-based solutions, investment, and regional coordination to achieve sustainable environmental protection and development goals.

Kazakhstan is strengthening its environmental protection partnerships with Central Asian nations because the region is developing better ways to manage environmental problems that all countries need to solve together.

Mansur Oshurbayev spoke at the Regional Ecological Summit 2026 in Astana to show that Central Asian countries work together on environmental issues because they share problems that exist beyond their national territories.

The study examines how climate change affects ecosystems and wildlife migration paths and helps maintain water supplies and land ecosystems. He showed that neighboring countries must work together to solve transboundary problems because these issues need international collaboration.

Oshurbayev emphasized the need to build regional partnerships while securing funding for projects that will develop nature-based solutions. The solutions use sustainable methods to manage environmental resources by restoring ecosystems and protecting biodiversity while enhancing capacity to withstand climate change effects.

Central Asian countries work together to develop better methods which protect nature while enabling economic growth. The vice minister also mentioned that Kazakhstan has made major progress toward meeting these regional objectives through its national initiatives.

The country has established a long-term biodiversity conservation plan which will guide its biodiversity protection efforts until 2035. Kazakhstan has established its third Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0) to update its climate commitments and it has created a complete national adaptation plan.

The initiatives demonstrate the country's dedication to solving climate change and environmental sustainability problems while making progress on regional environmental efforts.

The summit demonstrated how Central Asian countries now maintain higher diplomatic relations between their governments. The environmental problems facing the region received unified treatment when heads of state from different countries attended the summit.

Oshurbayev states that Central Asian countries now present a unified position on biodiversity matters and climate action and environmental protection efforts. The region shows its commitment to building a sustainable future through shared responsibility which strengthened cooperation among its member states.
