Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE), a government-owned shipbuilding company, has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on a recent trip to Sweden and Denmark. The MoUs will lend themselves to further improving GRSE's marine engineering skills and GRSE's foray into expedition cruise vessels.
In Sweden, GRSE signed an MoU with Berg Propulsion, a world leader in marine propulsion technologies. The two companies will work together to develop and produce propulsion equipment and systems, and work collaboratively on continuing government projects and future government projects.
According to a filing with the stock exchange, “Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE), known for its expertise in marine engineering, has signed a MoU with Berg Propulsion, Sweden, and a globally recognized manufacturer of propulsion systems.”
On June 6, GRSE signed a separate MoU with SunStone, a Denmark-based company that specializes in expedition cruise vessels. Under this agreement, GRSE and SunStone will work together to design and develop vessels in this category. “On June 6, 2025, GRSE signed a MoU with SunStone, Denmark, a key player in the expedition cruise market. This agreement paves the way for future cooperation in this segment,” the company stated.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) is one of India’s leading public sector shipyards, located in Kolkata and owned by the Ministry of Defence group of companies.
