- FPT launches advanced semiconductor packaging and testing plant strengthening Vietnam’s position in global chipmaking race.
- New facility supports workforce training technology localisation and integration into international semiconductor supply chains networks.
- Move aligns with national strategy to reduce dependence and build competitive high precision electronics ecosystem.
Vietnam's top technology company FPT Corporation has declared its establishment of the FPT Advanced Semiconductor Packaging and Testing Plant which will help Vietnam develop its semiconductor industry to compete in international markets.
The launch event on January 28, 2026 positions FPT alongside Viettel which also recently announced Vietnam's first domestic semiconductor manufacturing facility as the nation accelerates its entry into the highly strategic chip sector.
Semiconductors serve as the fundamental foundation for contemporary technology because they power all electronic devices which include smartphones and data centers and electric vehicles and artificial intelligence systems.
The FPT new plant will operate its advanced packaging and testing facilities because these processes constitute essential steps in the semiconductor supply chain which prepares chips to be used in electronic devices. Vietnam aims to establish domestic capabilities and facilities for semiconductor manufacturing production which has remained an industry controlled by only a few nations.

FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh described semiconductors as vital digital age components which drive future digital economic development. He compared artificial intelligence to "the new strategic energy" because he considers it essential for future digital systems.
He stressed that Vietnam must use its young skilled workers and technological progress to build its semiconductor industry while avoiding previous project delays.
The packaging and testing plant functions as both a training site for semiconductor workers in Vietnam and a facility which develops high-precision technological skills for local companies.
Vietnam seeks to establish domestic technology development through homegrown competency training which will create a self-sufficient supply chain that meets domestic requirements while generating export possibilities.
This initiative is part of a nationwide effort which includes the Viettel chip fabrication plant together with training initiatives and innovation centres to establish Vietnam as a significant player in the global semiconductor value chain.
