  • Despite U.S. pressure, iPhone production in India continues to rise, with output projected to hit 25–30 million units in 2025.

Apple supplier Foxconn is moving forward with its significant growth in India, pouring $1.5 billion into its local initiatives and building housing for 30,000 employees, despite US President Donald Trump publicly requesting the firm to cease iPhone production there.

According to a filing with the London Stock Exchange reported by Reuters, the Singapore subsidiary of the Taiwanese contract manufacturer will acquire 12.77 billion shares valued at $1.5 billion in Yuzhan Technology India.

This coincides with Foxconn's continuous $2.56 billion investment in its extensive 300-acre facility in Devanahalli, Karnataka, as reported by The Economic Times. At Foxconn's Devanahalli site, the building of dormitories for 30,000 workers is progressing rapidly, establishing it as the largest of its kind in India, as reported by ET.

Female workers, representing 50-80% of the labor force, will be prioritized for housing. The firm commenced the assembly of certain iPhone models in May, while other variants are set to begin production in August. The rise of iPhones made in India persists, with Apple producing around $22 billion in iPhones in India for the year ending March 2025, marking a 60% growth compared to the last year.

At present, one out of every five iPhones globally is manufactured in India, highlighting the company's approach to shift production from China due to ongoing trade conflicts. Foxconn aims to manufacture 25-30 million iPhones at its facilities in India in 2025, more than doubling the production from last year, as reported by ET.

The firm runs facilities throughout Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana, with the Devanahalli plant anticipated to produce 100,000 iPhones by December.
