Egypt, Mindray Discuss Local Medical Devices, Smart Hospitals

Egypt’s Health and Population Minister, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, received a delegation from Mindray, a leading Chinese company that produces medical devices, to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation in the healthcare technology field.

The meeting covered the localization of the production of medical devices in Egypt and how Egypt’s healthcare infrastructure can be improved by adopting modern technologies.

Both parties recognized the existing strong partnership between Egypt and China in the medical field and the potential benefits of enhancing it. Among the most important areas of interest was the joint exploration of smart imaging and artificial intelligence applications in the medical field, specifically in areas such as radiology.

This includes the use of artificial intelligence to improve diagnosis and patient care. Additionally, the discussions included the establishment of smart intensive care units and other digital medical services that are part of Egypt’s efforts to create a more modern health system.

The meeting also touched on the idea of developing specialized training platforms and workshops that would target the upgrading of Egyptian medical personnel skills. Through capacity building and the transfer of technical know-how, both Egypt and Mindray seek to ensure that the Egyptian healthcare sector is poised to utilize next-generation medical equipment.

Collaboration on public health projects and smart healthcare solutions was also discussed, which fits Egypt’s digital transformation strategy in the healthcare sector.

Minister Abdel Ghaffar reiterated Egypt’s commitment to supporting the modernization and technological development of the country’s healthcare sector, as the Egyptian government is prepared to offer its full support to achieve these goals.

The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials from Egypt’s Ministry of Health, as well as top officials from Mindray responsible for global business, particularly in Africa and the Middle East.
