  • Agreements span education, renewable energy, manufacturing, tourism, and IT.
  • Toyota, Casio, Yamaha, and other firms join initiatives in tech and skills.
  • Agreements aim to boost bilateral investment, local production, and trade.

During the Egyptian-Japanese Investment Forum on August 18th in Yokohama, Egypt and Japan established 12 agreements and letters of intent across multiple strategic sectors, according to a statement issued in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

The agreements, revealed alongside Madbouly’s involvement in the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), seek to increase bilateral investment, strengthen local production, and improve supply chains, exports, and trade with adjacent markets.

The accords encompassed areas including education, renewable energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, tourism, logistics, and IT.

One of the most prominent agreements was between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to collaborate on technical and vocational education, in addition to a distinct partnership with Casio Middle East to enhance mathematics instruction.

Further contracts were established with Yamaha Corporation to improve music education in 100 schools and with the Japanese firm SPRIX to create math and IT programs based on the Japanese framework.

Toyota Tsusho Corporation has entered into two agreements: one with Egypt’s Ministries of Industry and Investment to promote the localization of automotive production, and another with the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology to aid scholarship initiatives.

Additional agreements encompassed collaborations in tourism and hospitality education, technology exchange, research and innovation, and the production of electronic and visual equipment.
