ChinaAMC and Franklin Templeton sign an MoU to expand cross-border asset management cooperation, explore co-branded ETFs and combine investment expertise to provide access to opportunities across China, Asia and global markets.

China Asset Management Co. (ChinaAMC) and Franklin Templeton have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cross-border asset management cooperation, develop investment products and expand access to opportunities across China, Asia and global markets. The partnership aims to combine their investment expertise, product development capabilities and distribution networks to serve investors seeking international exposure.

The agreement was signed in Shenzhen, China, by Yimei Li, Chief Executive Officer of ChinaAMC, and Daniel Gamba, Co-President and Chief Commercial Officer of Franklin Templeton. It establishes a framework for collaboration in joint product development, market intelligence sharing and the exchange of investment expertise.

Under the agreement, the two firms plan to explore the development of co-branded exchange-traded funds (ETFs) across Hong Kong, European Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) and US ETF structures. The proposed products will be subject to applicable regulatory approvals and are intended to provide investors with access to long-term growth opportunities linked to evolving market trends in China, Asia and international markets.

The partnership brings together ChinaAMC’s domestic market expertise, distribution capabilities and index innovation with Franklin Templeton’s global investment platform, ETF capabilities and international distribution network spanning more than 35 countries. The collaboration is expected to support the development of differentiated investment solutions and broaden product choices for investors across markets.

Li said technological innovation, particularly artificial intelligence, is reshaping global supply chains, economic structures and investment allocation strategies. She highlighted China’s extensive industrial supply chain and innovation ecosystem as factors creating new investment opportunities. She added that the partnership would help both companies develop cross-market investment solutions and expand their global reach.

Gamba noted that China’s capital markets are becoming increasingly important to international investors, while Chinese investors are showing greater interest in overseas markets. He said the collaboration would combine the firms’ complementary strengths to develop ETF products offering access to opportunities across China and global markets.

As of September 30, 2026, Franklin Templeton managed approximately $1.8 trillion in assets globally, while ChinaAMC reported assets under management of more than RMB 3.1 trillion, equivalent to approximately $462.5 billion, at the end of September.

The agreement builds on the firms’ broader cross-market collaboration and reflects growing interest in investment products that connect regional and international capital markets. By combining local market knowledge with global investment capabilities, ChinaAMC and Franklin Templeton aim to strengthen market access, expand investor choice and develop products aligned with long-term investment themes.
