Cambodia is encouraging Vietnamese companies and investors to explore investment and operations in Cambodia in various sectors, particularly those with significant potential and value addition, including automotive, modern agriculture, food processing, electronics, digital tech, financial technology and services, research and development, tourism, education, transport and logistics, creative industries, and additional manufacturing fields.
Mr. Tith Rithipol, Undersecretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, expressed this during the recent conference on "Connecting Vietnamese - Cambodian Production, Distribution, and Logistics Businesses."
He specifically highlighted various fields where Cambodia and Vietnam might explore enhanced collaboration to move forward: upgrading cross-border trade infrastructure; improving logistics and transport links; and intensifying cooperation within regional and multilateral frameworks.
In 2024, the bilateral trade volume between Vietnam and Cambodia exceeded around $10 billion. Starting from early 2025, the revenue has been remarkable as well. In this, Vietnam's exports are predominantly made up of industrial-energy products, whereas a significant share of imports from Cambodia consists of agricultural goods.
Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang proposed that both sides must take more decisive measures, address current challenges, and effectively enhance key sectors to boost bilateral trade turnover to $20 billion by 2030.

This involves connecting the establishment of trade infrastructure at the Vietnam-Cambodia border with coordinated investment in border gate facilities, logistics, storage, and border markets; fostering inter-industry, inter-regional, and cross-border connections: and organizing transportation - logistics - border gates - border markets among Vietnamese provinces adjacent to Cambodia.
Moreover, measures are required to enhance the growth of Vietnam-Cambodia bilateral trade (trade advancement, customs clearance, business assistance); and to expedite the implementation of intelligent border gate models to increase the export of agricultural, forestry, and fisheries goods to the Cambodian market.
Deputy Minister Thang specifically highlighted that the opportunities for linking businesses and bilateral trade between Vietnam and Cambodia require greater focus.
