There has been an affirmation by Bahrain and Malaysia on the need to strengthen their strategic partnership, whereby the two nations have resolved to cooperate more extensively in trade and investments, food security, Islamic banking, technology innovations, and defence. This comes at a time when there is an increasing pace in bilateral relations.

However, economic cooperation continues to be at the center of the relationship. The leaders of both Bahrain and Malaysia agreed that they would enhance cooperation in increasing trade and investment through fostering closer interaction between their business communities and providing an environment conducive to such interactions.

Another topic that arose as an area of focus within the cooperation framework was that of food security. There would be joint ventures and efforts in the agricultural and food sectors aimed at increasing resistance to any disruption in the global market. Cooperation in halal industries and agriculture business would be critical going forward.

The two governments stressed the significance of enhancing cooperation in Islamic financing, appreciating the vital role played by the industry in contributing to sustainable economic growth. In addition, they deliberated on the possibilities of enhancing cooperation in fintech and innovations in order to facilitate economic modernization.

These also included cooperation in matters of defence, security, education, tourism and culture. Both countries were of the view that strengthening people-to-people contacts and institutional linkages would help strengthen the overall relationship between the two countries.

The discussion on regional and multilateral cooperation was also a significant aspect of the discussions. Both the Kingdom of Bahrain and Malaysia expressed their resolve to improve their association with each other through the GCC and ASEAN in view of the increasing importance of interregional economic cooperation and sustainability.
