Apple has initiated talks with suppliers regarding the establishment of a trial production line for a foldable iPhone in Taiwan, aiming for mass production of the device in India for a possible release next year, according to Nikkei Asia.
The first foldable iPhone is anticipated to launch in late 2026, priced between $2,000 and $2,500 (around ₹1,74,155 to ₹2,17,687), consistent with prior leaks and analyst forecasts.
Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo forecasts that specifications will be completed by the second quarter of 2025, with large-scale production expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Kuo mentioned that the first shipments are anticipated to be constrained to 3–5 million units because of the device's complexity.
Apple's foldable iPhone is expected to utilize a book-style format that includes a 7.8-inch seamless inner display and a 5.5-inch exterior display, housed in a titanium alloy casing with a stainless steel-titanium hinge. When folded, the gadget is projected to have a thickness of 9–9.5mm, and when unfolded, it will be 4.5–4.8mm thick. Reports indicate a potential reintroduction of Touch ID on a side button, as Face ID might be excluded due to thickness and internal space limitations.
