- AWS acquires the NeuroBlade team to enhance data analytics capabilities in Israel.
- NeuroBlade’s SPU boosts large dataset processing 4–10x faster than CPUs.
- Deal strengthens Israel’s tech ecosystem and AWS’s global analytics offerings.
Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing division of Amazon, has secured a multi-million-dollar deal to integrate the core engineering team of NeuroBlade, an Israeli startup renowned for its cutting-edge data processing technology.
Valued in the tens of millions, this transaction marks AWS’s most significant move in Israel since acquiring Annapurna Labs in 2015. Unlike a full company acquisition, this deal focuses on absorbing NeuroBlade’s top talent to enhance AWS’s development capabilities in Israel, specifically targeting advancements in next-generation data and analytics technologies.
Founded in 2018 by Elad Sity and Eliad Hillel, both alumni of Israel’s elite Unit 81 and former SolarEdge executives, NeuroBlade has pioneered a SQL Processing Unit (SPU) that accelerates analytical queries on large datasets by 4–10x compared to leading CPUs.
Backed by prominent investors such as Intel Capital, Grove Ventures, StageOne Ventures, MediaTek, and Marius Nacht, NeuroBlade’s SPU has achieved exceptional results in industry benchmarks such as TPC-H and TPC-DS. This positions the company as a leader in the rapidly growing data analytics acceleration market, second only to AI in global data center demand.
The acquisition follows years of close partnership between NeuroBlade and AWS. NeuroBlade’s technology is already integrated into AWS EC2 F2 instances, enabling cloud customers to accelerate analytics workloads seamlessly. AWS has publicly recognized NeuroBlade as its official analytics acceleration partner, featuring the startup prominently on its product landing page.

In a letter to employees, CEO Elad Sity reflected on the milestone, “This transaction marks the next chapter for NeuroBlade. For me and Eliad, NeuroBlade has always been more than a company — it has been part of our lives and our family. Over the past eight years, we’ve built technologies we are deeply proud of, and a work environment and culture we always dreamed of.”
AWS’s investment in in-house chip design, including Graviton CPUs and Inferentia and Trainium AI accelerators, reflects its commitment to reducing reliance on external suppliers while delivering faster, more cost-effective solutions for customers.
The NeuroBlade-AWS deal is a significant win for Israel’s deep-tech ecosystem, reinforcing the country’s reputation as a powerhouse for semiconductor and hardware innovation. For NeuroBlade’s founders and employees, joining AWS offers a unique opportunity to scale their technology globally and shape the future of data analytics at one of the world’s leading technology companies.
