  • Cooperation covers agriculture, industry, construction materials, food processing, and regional export development initiatives.
  • Both countries aim expanding bilateral trade and strengthening Central Asian regional connectivity projects.

Through the signing of 13 trade and investment agreements at the joint business forum in Kabul Afghanistan and Uzbekistan established a more powerful economic partnership. The agreements, which exceeded USD 100 million, were signed by representatives from the private sectors of both countries in front of government officials and business leaders and trade organisations. The development shows that Kabul and Tashkent are working together to improve their economic ties while increasing their cross-border trade activities.

The business forum brought together Afghanistan's acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi and senior Uzbek officials and chambers of commerce and entrepreneurs from multiple sectors. The discussion focused on three main objectives which included increasing bilateral trade and attracting investments and discovering new industrial and commercial cooperation possibilities. Afghan officials described the relationship as moving beyond diplomatic dialogue into a more practical phase centred on business partnerships and economic development.

The signed agreements cover several sectors which include agriculture and food processing and carpets and construction materials and industrial production and regional exports. The representatives from both countries studied ways to create joint ventures while developing better market entry options for Afghan products to enter regional markets. Uzbekistan plans to create new support systems and business facilities which will assist Afghan traders and investors to develop stronger commercial ties with their neighbouring country.

The economic relationship between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan has grown through recent years because both nations face ongoing political and economic obstacles. The two countries established better trade relations during the past five years which both governments plan to expand through their goal of achieving USD 5 billion in annual trade volume. Uzbekistan has become Afghanistan's main international trade partner through their electricity distribution and infrastructure development and logistics collaboration.

Bilateral relations between countries receive significant support from regional connectivity projects which establish important links between their territories. Uzbekistan and Afghanistan are working together on multiple transport projects which include railway and transit corridor systems that will link Central Asia with South Asia and international markets. The analysts predict that the infrastructure projects will enhance trade efficiency throughout the region while establishing Afghanistan as a vital transit point between its neighboring countries.

Experts state that enhanced economic ties between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan will enable Afghanistan to establish new trading routes while securing foreign investments and developing its industrial sector. Uzbekistan gains market access to South Asia through its enhanced cooperation with Afghanistan which strengthens its regional integration initiatives. The signed agreements will create better economic stability and increased regional connectivity throughout Central Asia and South Asia according to observers.
