  • Abu Dhabi signs strategic agreements with Italy to strengthen entrepreneurship, manufacturing innovation, and agritech collaboration.
  • Partnerships focus on advanced manufacturing, clean energy, digital transformation, and sustainable agricultural technologies.
  • Agreements enhance bilateral trade, investment flows, startup ecosystems, and long-term economic cooperation between regions.

Italy and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi have agreed to work together more closely in order to stimulate the development of entrepreneurship, advanced manufacturing and agri-tech through a number of significant agreements.

The agreements were made during a trip to Italy by a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), which comprised more than 100 differing experienced persons from the private and public sectors.

Home to a number of well-known institutions such as the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), ADGM, Abu Dhabi Customs and Hub71, the aim of these discussions was to not only improve the relationship between both parties (i.e. bilateral relationships) but also how to expand collaborative opportunities with respect to specific sectors that are of mutual benefit.

The Abu Dhabi Investment Forum (ADIF) in Milan, which ADIO and ADDED organised together resulted in two major agreements with Italian institutions Assolombarda which represents Italy's largest business federation and Confagricoltura the agricultural business confederation.

The Assolombarda partnership will develop advanced manufacturing and clean energy and digital transformation technologies through collaborative innovation and industrial development programs.

The Confagricoltura agreement supports agri-food innovation and resilience development within the AgriFood Growth and Water Abundance (AGWA) cluster which helps Abu Dhabi and Italy achieve their sustainable agricultural technology development objectives.

The two organizations signed a cooperation agreement between Abu Dhabi Customs and Italian Customs which aims to enhance trade processes through secure and efficient customs operations that establish transparent customs procedures for both economic growth and bilateral trade.

The digital trade corridors established by this trade agreement will enable businesses in both regions to exchange data at higher speeds which will improve their market competitiveness.

The Italian agreements demonstrate Abu Dhabi's intention to establish itself as a global center for innovation and investment which will support entrepreneurial development through partnerships that create enduring possibilities in key industries like manufacturing and agri-tech and clean energy and digital transformation.
