iMotion Technology has entered into two joint venture agreements with Malaysian auto components leader Delloyd Technology Berhad through its 100% owned subsidiary, iMotion Automotive Technology (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.
The joint venture agreements will establish two separate ventures in Malaysia; one being a manufacturing venture and one being a sales venture. The manufacturing joint venture will establish an electronics manufacturing facility in Klang, Selangor, which will include advanced SMT (surface-mount technology) lines and assembly/testing capabilities.
The facility will produce printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) for iMotion’s advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) system and other products for contract manufacturing. iMotion is aimed at upgrading local manufacturing to Western standards by implementing its high-performance ADAS production expertise as it is transferring technology from China.
While historically, the Malaysian auto parts sector has focused on plastics and basic electronics, we believe that with this new joint venture, we will be introducing next generation automotive electronics into the local ecosystem with the aim of driving competitiveness and product quality. The sales joint venture will be the exclusive distributor of products manufactured by the manufacturing joint venture.
The joint venture will use Delloyd's strong sales network, which was established over the span of partnerships with domestic and global OEMs for more than four decades. We expect the future collaboration to drive iMotion's market growth not only in Malaysia but throughout the ASEAN region.
Overall, the partnership strengthens iMotion’s localization efforts in Southeast Asia, enhances its global strategy, and adds resilience to its international operations through strategic regional integration.
